2025 Giving It Back Scholarship Recipients

We are excited to announce that during our 2025 Youth Empowerment Sunday on July 20th, we awarded eight college scholarships. Notably, five out of the nine recipients are from outside New Generation Christian Church. If the student had at least a 3.0 GPA, they were awarded a $500 scholarship. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our church, family, community, and friends for their generous support of the Giving Back Fundraiser held in May 2025. Brooke Best

Brooke Best graduated from Overhills High School with a remarkable GPA of 4.161, and she was honored with the distinction of Magna Cum Laude. Her dedication to academics was paralleled by her passion for dance, where she received multiple awards, and her consistent presence on the honor roll showcased her commitment to excellence. Brooke also made significant contributions to her community by assisting at the church café/store, participating in various community projects, and working at the concession stand. She will be pursuing a major in Nursing at Fayetteville State University, where she plans to continue her journey of excellence and service.

Epiphany Williams Brown

Epiphany Williams Brown is a proud graduate of West Johnston High School with a GPA of 3.0. Her leadership skills were nurtured through significant roles in her church, where she delivered impactful speeches, and accumulated over 30 hours of volunteer service. Epiphany actively contributed to the food pantry and engaged in the Sources and Strength program, demonstrating her dedication to community service. She will be furthering her education at Johnston Community College with a major in Medical Assistant, where she looks forward to expanding her skills in the healthcare field.

Tobias Hocutt, Jr.

Tobias Hocutt completed his studies at Corinth Holders High School, achieving a GPA of 3.4. As a three-year varsity football starter, Tobias was awarded Defensive Player of the Year and earned numerous athletic awards, consistently making the honor roll. His athletic prowess and academic dedication exemplify his well-rounded capabilities. Tobias will attend Winston-Salem State University, where he will major in Computer Science, aiming to merge his analytical skills with his passion for technology.

LaMonte' Lucas

LaMonte’ Lucas graduated Cum Laude from Wilson Academy of Applied Technology with a GPA of 3.8, also earning an associate degree. His community involvement included singing in the community choir and serving on the finance committee, highlighting his leadership and dedication to service. LaMonte’ is set to attend North Carolina A&T State University, where he will major in Applied Engineering Technology, aiming to innovate and contribute to technological advancements.

Amari McLean

Amari McLean, a graduate of Neuse Charter School with a GPA of 2.4, displayed a strong commitment to community service through participation in volunteer work during the Fall Festival and various school events. Amari is set to attend Shaw University, where he will major in Criminal Justice with a focus on Sociology. His passion for community service and justice will guide his academic journey and future career path.

Chloe Nelson

Chloe Nelson graduated from Smithfield Selma High School with an impressive GPA of 4.3, ranking in the top 10% of her class. She accumulated over 107 service hours and received various awards, reflecting her academic excellence and commitment to community. Chloe's service included volunteering at the Raleigh Rescue Mission, assisting with elementary school carpool, and participating in a clothing donation project. She will attend Howard University, majoring in Biology, where she plans to continue her dedication to service and academic achievement.

Alise Sanders

Alise Sanders, a graduate of E.E. Smith High School with a GPA of 3.47, was recognized with the Pride Award and as the Most Improved Dancer, consistently making the honor roll. Her community service included being an active praise dancer, participating in the youth choir, engaging in community clean-up efforts, and volunteering at school events. Alise will further her studies in Healthcare Administration at Fayetteville State University, aiming to blend her passion for health and service in her future career.

Kaleb Williams

Kaleb Williams graduated from South Johnston High School with a GPA of 3.3. His athletic achievements include being named Football MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and an academic all-conference athlete in multiple sports. Kaleb's dedication extended to community service, where he engaged in church activities, volunteered at Falcon Children’s Home, and officiated youth sports events. He will attend UNC Pembroke to major in Business Management, where he plans to leverage his leadership skills and passion for sports in his academic and personal endeavors.
